James E. Mayer age 74, of Lima passed away Wednesday Dec. 13 at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born Aug. 26, 1943 in Lima to the late Wilbur and Velma Hinkle Mayer. He married Vicki A. Couchot Sept. 12, 1995 and she survives in Lima.
Jim had worked for Shawnee Twp. Starting on the road crew and then with the fire department, retiring after 33 years of service. He also volunteered with the Uniopolis Department. He was member of the Lima Eagles and the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved to mow the lawn. He also had been very active with 4H while he was growing up.
Additional survivors include children: Douglas Mayer of lima and his children: Vyette, Jordan and Marisa; Kjarista (Kirk) Bush of Lexington, KY and Kollier; Jeffrey (Chanda) Mayer and children: Jacob, Allannah and Berend; Jennifer (Billy Wisilosky) Couchot of Virginia Beach, Virginia and children Delaney and Abigail Chewning and Christopher (Lori) Couchot and children Aiden, Gavin and Trevor.
A celebration of life will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 Pastor Damian Tibbs will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Shawnee Fire Department or Uniopolis Volunteer Fire Department.
