Joan N. Haines, age 80, of Lima passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Aug. 26, 1936 in Lima to the late Benjamin Franklin and Edna Naomi Decker Croft. She married Thomas Paul Haines Jan. 14, 1956 and he preceded her in death March 11, 2007.
Joan was a member of First Evangelical & Reformed Church of Lima where she had worked in the nursery for decades. She had been a dental assistant for Drs. Webb, Kesler and Clemens. She had also worked in the cafeteria for Lima City Schools and had volunteered with Wapakoneta Elementary Schools. She received a volunteer award from Wapakoneta Education Association: 2014 Friend of Education. She also volunteered with the Lima Cup Program and for Johnny Appleseed Parks. She enjoyed going to the Kewpee and walking the mall daily.
Survivors include a daughter Ann (Mike) Lawrence of Wapak, 4 grandchildren: Jennifer (Eric) Moyer, Christopher (Katie) Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence and Sarah Lawrence, great grandchildren Joshua Moyer and Beniah Lawrence and brother Bill (Karen) Croft of Lima and nieces Kari Masters and Kim King.
The family will receive friends 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Monday at First Evangelical and Reformed Church with Pastor Ed Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Evangelical and Reformed Church or to the Wapak Elementary PTO to support teachers and students.
