Joseph W. Mahlmeister, age 59 of Lima, died at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his sister's residence. He was born April 3, 1958 in Lima, Ohio to the late Lucia Ann Mahlmeister Huffman.

Joe had worked as a janitor with the St. Gerard Catholic School where he had attended elementary school. He was a member of the Orioles Fraternal Order of Lima. Joe had many interest including old movies, especially westerns, playing chess and pool. He loved music, and playing the guitar and drums. He enjoyed reading mostly about WW II, but also fantasy and religious books. He greatly loved his two daughters, Charity and Lucia and his brother, John and sister, Lenore.

He is survived by 2 daughters - Lucia M. (Alex) Allen of Lima; and Charity A. Davis of Lima; 6 grandchildren - Branden, De'Shawn, Jonathan, Janae, AJ, Alauna; 2 great grandchildren - Arieyah and Ja'Siah; a sister - Lenore R. Mahlmeister (Tony) Sheehan of Ada; 2 brothers - John F. (Diane Burton) Mahlmeister of Lima and Eric Carolus of Lima; and an aunt - Ruth Ann Mahlmeister of Lima.

He was preceded in death by a brother - Scott A. Mahlmeister; an aunt - Rose Ellen Madonia; 2 uncles - Mike Mahlmeister and Jim Mahlmeister.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017 and 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Monday prior to services at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at the funeral home. Rev. John Butler will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Gethsemani Cemetery.
