Merlin L. 'Moe' Steveley age 87, of Wapakoneta passed away 5:21 p.m., Wednesday at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 28, 1930 in Allen County to the late Loy and Mabel Morey Steveley. He married Grace Nuesmeyer Nov. 14, 1953 and she preceded him in death Aug. 1, 2006.

Moe had retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 years. He attended Shawnee Alliance Church and was a member of the American Legion in Wapak and had served in the U. S. Navy during Korea. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruit of his labors. He loved to volunteer at church and was an Ohio State Fan.

Survivors include children: Pamela (Paul) May Steveley of Kingsburg, CA, David (Kimberly) Steveley of Wapakoneta, Kevin Steveley of Wapakoneta and Lori (Bradley) Aeschliman of Saline, MI, 10 grandchildren, Ashley (Brett) Nickles, Kayla Steveley, Jenna(Matt)Reaman, Emily Steveley, Justin Steveley, Mitchell Steveley, Emily May, Evan Aeschliman, Kate Aeschliman, Mike Aeschliman, 6 great grandchildren, a brother: Larry (MaryAnn) Steveley of Springfield, Ohio and a sister: Virginia McElroy of Lima.

The family will receive friends 2 – 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 28 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and one hour prior to service at the church. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Monday the 29th at Shawnee Alliance Church with Rev. Shane Krites officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta where military rites will be observed.

Memorial contributions may be given to Shawnee Alliance Church Building Fund or Lima Rescue Mission.
