Petrina W. Hanes, age 66 passed at 12:15 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born September 12, 1950 in Lima, Ohio; to the late James 'Pete' and Marcella Rupert Duer. On September 13, 1970 she married Melvin James Hanes, who survives.

Petrina had worked as a secretary for the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities and was a member of the Westminster United Church of Christ where her and her husband were married. She was a 1968 graduate of Allen East High School. Her hobbies included collecting antiques, peacock items, gardening, golfing, and loved animals. She loved the backyard, sitting in the gazebo, looking at their rock garden, and pond. She learned hard work at a young age, helping her father on the farm and driving the tractor, so as an adult she like to stay busy. Petrina will be remembered for her sense of humor, her big heart, and the loved she shared with her family.

Survivors also include a son - James M. Hanes of Harrod; a daughter - Teresa D. (Jeff) Clawson of Harrod; 5 grandchildren - Cody, Briana, Anthony, Joe, and Sam; a sister - Karen (Dave) Meeker of Lafayette; a step sister - Jean (Lee) Dorston of St. Marys; and her kitty cat - Ethel.

Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Herb Wilker will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Westminster Fire Department.
