Ronald "Ronnie" K. Mooney age 82, of Cridersville passed away 12:35 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Cridersville Health Center. He was born June 9, 1935 in Lima to the late Ralph N. and Viola E. Mayer Mooney. He married Linda L. Herndon Jan. 19, 1964 and she survives in Cridersville.
Ronnie was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church and Cridersville Historical Society. He had been a volunteer fire fighter for 20 years and had helped to build the fire department in the 50's.
He had been very active with the Masons: Past Master of Masonic Lodge Wayne Chapter 569, Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star Bethel Chapter 273 and a member of Lafayette Chapter 191. He also was a member of the Wapak Eagles aerie 691. Ron retired from the Wapakoneta Manor where he had worked in
the maintenance area and had also worked for Buckeye Pipeline, Neon Products, Superior Coach, Walter & Sons Meats and had been a sub custodian for Wapak Schools.
Additional survivors include 4 children: Doug (Charlotte) Mooney of Lima, Tim (Kathy Weston) Mooney of Caledonia, Lisa (Greg) Lowry of Wapak and Rick (Crissie) Mooney of New Knoxville; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Sandy Mooney of Cridersville.
He was preceded in death by a brother Dennis Mooney.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday Nov. 24, 2017 at Cridersville United Methodist Church. A masonic service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the church. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Westbay officiating and burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the charity of the donor's choice.
