Wendell M. Hampp age 94, of Wapakoneta, passed away 12:50 a.m., Thursday Feb. 16, 2017 at Cridersville Health Care. He was born July 24, 1922 in Duchouquet Township, Auglaize County, Ohio to the late Paul A. and Ethel DeLong Hampp. He married Mary G. Coplin Oct. 9, 1942 and she preceded him in death July 30, 2002.

Wendell had been a self-employed farmer and local historian. He was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son Darrell Hampp and a daughter Nancy Hampp both of Wapak. 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Doris Hampp, a sister Doris (Herman) Stegen and a daughter-in-law Dianne Hampp.

The family will receive friends 2-4 Sunday, Feb. 19 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Casey Irwin officiating and burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery, Cridersville.

Memorial contributions may be given to Cridersville Historical Society or Legacy Park.
