Ella Lucille Dickson, age 81 of Lima and formerly of Perry Township and Marietta, Georgia, died at 3:45 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2010 in Elm Croft of Lima. She was born September 9, 1928 in Lima, Ohio. She is the daughter of Henry G. and Hazel L. Sneary Shope. Both parents are deceased. On September 12, 1947 she married Melvin H. Dickson who died November 5, 1979.
Mrs. Dickson was a homemaker and a retired secretary with Landmark Petroleum. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lima. She was a 1947 graduate of Shawnee High School where she was a day cook and church greeter. She was a past President of the Women’s Ministries, an advocate for the traffic light at Mumaugh Road and State Route 309, and active in Perry School Athletic activities when her children were in school.
Survivors include 1 son – David W. (Vicki) Dickson of Woodstock, Georgia; 3 daughters – Marcia (Terry) Lee of Byrdstown, Tennessee; Cathy (Michael) Anderson of Marietta, Georgia; Dianna (George) Coppler of Lima; 11 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 9 step great great grandchildren; 1 brother – Bill Shope of Nashville, Tennessee; 2 sisters – Dorothy Rice of Lima; and Linda Savieo of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by 1 brother John Shope and 1 sister – Patricia Treadway.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2010 in First Assembly of God Church, Lima. Pastor Jerry Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God.
