Florence Smith, age 88, of Elida, died 2:21 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born November 30, 1924, in Johnson County, Kentucky to Tom and Carrie Castle Music, who preceded her in death. On May 15, 1947 she married Rolland Paul Smith, who survives in Elida.
Florence was a wrapper at RG Dunn and was employed at Tank Depot for 2 years. She was part of the Teamsters Union, and a member of Faith Baptist Church. A wife and mother for 66 years she enjoyed staying home, cleaning house and taking care of her family.
She is survived by 2 sons Walter J. (Jane) Smith, of Lima, and William E. Smith, of Lima; 3 grandchildren Matthew E. (Lerma) Smith, Mark R. (Lisa)Smith, Carey E. Brentlinger; 7 Great Grandchildren Charlie, Chandler and Chase Brentlinger, Paige Angeline Smith, Ethan Taylor Smith, Samuel Michael Smith and Adam Walter Smith ; 3 Brothers Charles Music, Junior Music, and Ernest 'Bud' Music; 5 sisters Nancy Music, Mary Frances Long, Ernestine Music, Eva Richards, Juaneta Ely.
She is preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Carol Jolly and 8 siblings.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 25, from 2:00- 4:00 and 6:00- 8:00 p.m., at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, at 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Cooper will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery, Cridersville.
