K. Lenore Shappell, age 99, of Cridersville, died 9:57 a. m., Friday Jan. 27, 2012 at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born September 22, 1912 near Lafayette, Ohio to Charles Varian and Vera Gladys Hefner Guthrie, who preceded her in death. She married Adrian Eugene Shappell Feb. 17, 1940 and he preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1971.
She had been a farmer's wife and worked 17 years at Fisher Cheese. She was a member of County Line Church of the Brethren and attended Hume Untied Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and her four legged friend Haley.
Survivors include 2 sons: Terry (Helen) Shappell of Goshen, IN, Dean (Diana) Shappell of Elida and a daughter Anita Kay Shappell of Cridersville, her caregiver and companion Chris Lewis, a sister Maxine Boyd of Lafayette, 4 sister-in-laws: Norma Guthrie Downey of Lima, Marjorie Place of Wapakoneta, Sally Shappell and Betty Shappell both of Buckland, 8 grandchildren: Mindy (Dave) Morelli, Mike (Amy) Shappell, Shelly (Matt) Elling, Bonnie Dailey, Ron (Dane) Seech, David (Serima) Curtis, Melissa (Dennis) Wojciechowski, and Daniel Young; 13 great grandchildren: Christopher & Samantha Shappell, Casey & Alesia Dailey, Samatha Penzerro, Donnie & Brandon Seech, Cade & Leah Elling, Eric & Christa Wojciechowski, Donal & Maliya Curtis; and 2 great great grandchildren Piper & Parker Dailey.
She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Gerald, Dwight, Warren and Robert Guthrie, 2 sisters: Marjorie Guthrie and Gertrude Long, and a grandson Michael Dean Shappell.
Funeral services will begin 10:30 a. m., Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home with Pastor David Thompson officiating, burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p. m., Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
